Focus and Scope

The Journal of Language Studies in Islamic Contexts (JoLSIC) publishes original research that examines language, discourse, and communication within Islamic socio-cultural settings. The journal prioritizes theoretically informed and methodologically rigorous scholarship grounded in linguistics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, translation studies, and communication studies.

JoLSIC welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that engage critically with:

  • Linguistic analysis of religious texts and sermons

  • Discourse practices in Muslim communities

  • Sociolinguistic dynamics in Islamic educational institutions

  • Translation and interpretation in Islamic scholarship

  • Digital media and communication in contemporary Islam

  • Language policy and identity in Muslim-majority societies

Normative, purely theological, or devotional manuscripts without substantive linguistic or discourse-based analysis fall outside the scope of the journal.
